Just A Little South of Dallas

Just A Little South of Dallas

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

Honey, darlin'
I've gotta tell you somethin'
You've got something special
Drawing me away from now
Taking me somewhere else
Let me tell you how I'm twirlin'
The formal Dallas light
Have you brighter than ever
I long to see your eyes
Twinkle under the starlight
Just a little south of Dallas
It's a truck bed in the pasture
Just you and I together
The sound of crickets in the grass
A dark sky in clear weather
Take my hand and come with me
To a special place we share
Only you and I can know where
Just a little south of Dallas
Dinner and dancin'
In the Stock Yards are fun
But there's no place than
Dancing in the kitchen
While burnin' the chicken
Seeing you smile in the sun
Lying in the Bluebonnets
In that special place
Just a little south of Dallas
A ball game in Houston
We could take a son
When we could throw a few
In the yard of our home
Just a little south of Dallas
Can you see what I see?
Come with me
To this little place
Just a little south of Dallas
