No More, No Less

No More, No Less

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

I bowed my head in prayer
To tell my Father that I saw her
How my heart fell for the soothsayer
Believed she was the one

I asked please Lord
Let her be the one I need
The one that makes me
Be a better man

Please let her be the one
I don't need another
I don't need anything else
No more, no less

My plea waited an answer
Time went on so did I
I guess she wasn't it
Maybe I'll see her later

The years have flown by
She came back in my life
More beautiful than before
More the woman I'm missing

I asked again Lord is it her
Is she the one I see in visions
Holding a child on the couch cushions
That'd be all I need
No more, no less

Is this the one I see at night
The one I miss in the day
Can you just tell me she might
Let me know some way

She's all I need, all I want
To build a family on some land
To live out the rest of our days

That's all I promise
No more, no less

First piece in a long while. It just came to me this morning so I hurried to write it down.

A deep story shared my friend. The dance of love can lead us to sadness and sometimes, we can find happiness again. I wanted to know more. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
