Lone BeingA Poem by J. F. CharlestonThe sun is down The wind blowin My fire goin out Just on a life line Surrounded by thousands I'm still all alone The people I reach for Don't even notice my attempts A drive down these long roads Among the fields and houses Provides comfort for my dying spirit The sad song and wind feed my fire But it takes more than wind and words To keep alive my dying spirit The brown fields I pass Remind me of how close I am Running out of life The eagle flying above me Looks down with sympathetic eyes On someone who flies solo Against their will hoping for a change The wind blows hard against me It keeps me awake, from my sweet dreams The chill of the air curses my life bearing heart The fog above the city Clouds my path I can't see what happens next This rough road hints nothing Sad songs on repeat comfort my troubled soul Give me a sense of hope That I can't find anywhere else People's words trouble me, their silence unbearable The eagle in the sky Shows me what I am A lone majestical being Going on with no one Wishing for a companion That will never come To fly against the wind Tires me down to the ground Determined to continue on I walk upon predators Driving keeps me sane It allows me to collect To regain strength To keep moving through this crowd Who doesn't know who I am Or if I even exist among them My fire almost out Burning on the cause On those I remember To one day be with them again I'm just a being out here Alone fighting my way on Just like those before me To pass those dried tears To someday see what could be © 2016 J.
