Interstate Song
A beaten path So many travel Not knowing what it hath Been a long while ago It stretches for miles Across the land Which silently sings With the cords of an interstate Every traveler hears a tale From the cracked road That's as unique as their own In the interstate's song The sad tale of a rodeo cowboy Is told to the big city boy His heartache from his rough patch Is only told to that one boy Who sees a buckin' bronco pleasing His story is left behind on the road For others to simply discover While the interstate sings its song It stretches for miles Across the land Which silently sings With the cords of an interstate Every traveler hears a tale From the cracked road That's as unique as their own In the interstate's song A young musician once traveled Down this stretch of 35 Makin' these old bars years ago Be filled with music and laughter Makin' them come alive Her story is left in these bumps She sings with the interstate Telling the tale of her fate To the young girl of today It stretches for miles Across the land Which silently sings With the cords of an interstate Every traveler hears a tale From the cracked road That's as unique as their own In the interstate's song The tale of the ranger now resides In the song of the interstate As it tells his adventures To the upcoming farmer The legend of his last battle Is recited by the interstate Past the newborn cattle Down to the young farm boy It stretches for miles Across the land Which silently sings With the cords of an interstate Every traveler hears a tale From the cracked road That's as unique as their own In the interstate's song © 2015 J.
