Highway 22A Poem by J. F. CharlestonThis sure is somethin'
this masterpiece could you leave my heart leave it here please I won't chase you here on highway 22 We had somethin' good that started northeast of Waco it lasted for a long while but we needed to let it go if I could change it I don't think I would I love highway 22 more than you she's more magnificent with her cactus fields and long road with no yields Scattered towns here and there cattle and trees line her shoulder clouds dance above in the blue skies there ain't no use in your cries Highway 22 never betrayed me she stayed unlike you I now know what faithful means highway 22 really hates you too oh, boo hoo Maybe perhaps she'll lead me straight to someone new so I can forget about you this is where I need to be here on highway 22 Twisting paths go on to find the same old sky yours always finds some dumb new guy This view sure is somethin' it takes my breath away a true piece of art you could've been here but you chose to tear us apart It's me and highway 22 leave me alone as I drive on to something completely new leave me here, alone and gone here on highway 22. © 2015 J.
