ClarendonA Poem by J. F. Charleston
She told me it was over
she said I wasn't enough she didn't even try to cry I sat in my truck and tried not to cry but there was no use because my heart was broke crushed and torn I couldn't stay here stay in the same city my heart cried for a small town it cried for someplace out in the middle of no-where Clarendon, a place in the Texas Panhandle is where I figured I'd run to where the people are few and land abundant She once loved me she once said we I once loved her I once said we I ran across a state away from her and to freedom There isn't anyplace like Clarendon there's a school, a store, and water tower a hospital, fire house, and a restaurant there isn't anything more I want I couldn't stay there stay in the same city my heart cried for a small town it cried for someplace out in the middle of no-where Clarendon, a place in the Texas Panhandle is where I ran to where the people are few and land abundant Clarendon is where I am don't think I miss the city I love this town I love the stars and I love a girl I love my new life out in here in Clarendon... © 2013 J.
