Let The Heart Be Heard

Let The Heart Be Heard

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

There is so much unheard
some buried low
some overflows
some burrows

Emotions left for dead
screaming for help
but abandoned
and never heard

When hearts break
they ache and scream
to us mortals
who say we have morals

Hearts want to sing
what they feel
but they are drowned out
by other voices

Let the heart sing
what it wants to
so you can know
what breaks it
and what mends it

Put the heart center stage
and under the spot light
for it to perform
its only performance

The heart yearns to sing
but it's left unheard
in our chests

When it aches
the heart is saying
let it go, for it's worthless
and it will destroy us both

There is so much unheard
some buried low
some overflows
some burrows

Emotions left for dead
screaming for help
but abandoned
and never heard...
