The Rose Isn't Enough

The Rose Isn't Enough

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

Look at the rose
Its look and shape
So perfect
But is it really?

Smell this rose
Not sweet nor pleasant
How long will it fool
The picking peasant?

This rose is worthless
A beautiful body
But a decayed core

The rose of a love
Is pleasing to the sences
But this rose isn't enough

The rose isn't enough
It can be pretty
But its core has to match

Take this rose
Smell it for a second
Watch the thorns
And gaze upon the beauty

Its not perfect
Its not as pretty
But its core
Makes the difference

Are you saying the core is a heart and the heaviness of the write is not looking at the outer layers... but the inside of someone... in this case your usage is the rose... and the facets that come with it are the realizations of what the heart is... unresolved...
