Whiskey Lover

Whiskey Lover

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

Sippin' and sittin'
Tonight I'm a doin'
On this bottle of whiskey

I once loved her
I once liked beer
But tonight,
I love whiskey

I see the devil
At the bottom
But I'm sippin' still
'Til he's got a chance to kill

I once loved her
I once liked vodka
But those days are gone
And whiskey is my love

Hey bartender
Hit me again

I don't know what happened
She packed her truck
And yelled see ya
She left a bottle of whiskey
And now I'm here

I hate her
I love whiskey
I can't fill this hole
But whiskey can

Hey who's that over there?
Not the red head
That whiskey she's drinking

I like you
I love what you're drinkin'
But it needs some Coke
Oh darn, girl I'm broke
Because I'm a whiskey lover

I liked it. It sounds like a country song in the making.

I'm not sure if I have ever tried whiskey. and if I did I think it's strong as hell and burns as it goes down.

Nice poem, I like how there's a story to the drinking whiskey.

I read this whilst I had some country music playing in the background, the combination transported me to the deep south! Great job!

I was a whiskey drinker. Harsh and to the point. I saw the Devil once in Texas with tequila. Tequila can twist you up and bring bad thing to you. Whiskey is honest and direct. I enjoyed the poem. Thank you for the excellent poetry.
