I Saw Me Then...A Poem by J. F. Charleston
These old pages
with pictures of young kids take me back to that time and remember what it was like I saw myself, littler and chubbier a little more stupider a little less knowledgeable and just a little more innocent I saw myself chase my friends around the school playground using sticks as guns and the groups we were once bound There used to be different worlds light sabers, laser blasters, and portals trillions of troops under my command and the best partner a commander could have So many different things happened to me over the course of six or seven years once in love with games and television now in love with trucks and dears one girl and the Country I saw me then and looked over those times never did I think I would but I know now that I should I'm not exactly like that little kid still honest and playing games but I learned new faces and names that I'm thankful for Trying to figure out my future I jumble around my choices but my rebel side yells don't worry I listen to different little voices I may or may not be sorry When I saw me back then when things weren't important I saw a carefree child playing with Hotwheels in the dirt I've been a space commander a lover, a failure, and a success a musician, a digger, and a spy and never did I wonder why just felt like it I saw me back as a child stupid and innocent loveable and wild © 2013 J.
