Candles

Candles

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

They burn bright
in the dead of night...

Her so loved companion
that warmed and tickled her heart
lies before her, never to wake
her candle, burning bright
was the same that burned
in him that very way
now it burns for him
in her heart

Candles, a symbol of love
a sweet aroma and light
that represents the way
one feels for another

A soldier's widow
now sits alone at home
a candle burns through the night
as she longs for his comforting arms
when she gazes upon the candle
she is reminded of his love
that he once shared
in the light of the very same candle

The very thing
that keeps us together
is this little candle
if we're apart, one always burns
and when we're together
one is always lit...

Burning together as one wick and one stick of wax. Nice work!
