My Heart Can't Let Go

My Heart Can't Let Go

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

I watched you go

drive down the street and out of sight

I sit on the steps of this porch

and feel my heart break to pieces

only for one reason

(Chorus)

My heart can't let you go

it refuses to do so

doesn't matter how much I try

for my heart won't let go

These memories of mine

replay all night

your deep blue eyes

and that smile so bright

I can't forget about you

(Chorus 2)

My heart can't let you go

it refuses to do so

doesn't matter how much I try

I'm left alone to cry

all night long

This bed we once slept in

is empty and cold

during the night

I pray for a new life that won't begin

because I'm still in love with you

(Chorus 1)

My heart can't let you go

it refuses to do so

doesn't matter how much I try

for my heart can't let go

You did very well. Hard to write songs. Words must flow together and bring in the listening with words with meaning and purpose. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.

Thanks, and it is hard to. Got to find the best way to mix and flow the words and ideas. No problem .. read more
