Love's Attempted Escape...A Poem by J. F. CharlestonYou will never escape it...
A new car
an American Muscle is what I'll use to run from my love that still loves me I hope it'll take me far With the sound of this turbo engine and this radio I try to drown her memory but she sticks around Fly'n one hundred plus down this interstate I never want to think of us I want to think about me Red and blue lights flash in my mirror she is getting closer to my attempt Never will I stop never will I slow never will I quit running never will these lights stop glowing In this car she won't leave with something still up my sleeve I punch the nitrous leaving them coppers in the dust along with my past She's still here and now I see that my fear isn't what my life is her love that she gave will forever satisfy me... ... Now I'm sitting in a cell waiting for her She comes with tears in her eyes and all I can do is stroke her cheek and tell her I'm sorry Never will I again attempt to escape her love... © 2013 J. F.
