Betrayal

Betrayal

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

Blood flowing
down my back
and down my leg
onto the ground

Betrayal
something we commit
for greed
when all that is need
is lost

I trusted you
with my life
and you turned on me
and stabbed me
with the very knife
I gave you

My life now over
because of a measure of greed
and for your creed

Betrayal
you gave me
for the enemy

I will haunt you
and you will be hunted

Betrayers
never last
and neither will you
because of just the few
you turned your back on

Betrayal
a final decision
left in a crimson pool...

Many forms of betrayal out there. Sometimes I wonder if there isn't a moment in life where some form is obtained...one way or another. (Not in a huge scale..just something small within every breath we draw..a mind game of sorts) In any case, I do think you gave this poem a sense of experience...something deeper inside than just a painted picture to those looking at it from the exterior. (Lines..structure...etc) I did get confused on a few thoughts though...like they weren't finished so much as cut short. But that may just be me and how I think when I read. Bravo to you though!! :)

Betrayal out of greed, power and influence. Like the concept, just some of the words need altering.
