Give Me TexasA Poem by J. F. CharlestonJust Give Me Texas...
Go ahead and ask me
what it is I want it's not money or a fancy car just give me Texas It's the place with the rolling hills and the islands on the coast It's that place with the honkytonks in every town with the girls shake'n their badonkadonks Come on just hand it over I want that girl in Amarillo where she always has me in a fun twirl The Lone Star State the greatest place in the world I don't want crap that doesn't last forever just give me Texas Give me the bars and the steel guitars that fill my ears with magnificent music Nothing is the same without a state like Texas so just let me reside and forever live like the tide or out on the ole dirt roads Let me have the Alamo that is still standing down in San Antonio Don't give me money or jewels or pearls give me the honey that lives in Texas The plantations with large cotton fields and the large houses How about those ranches across the land full of horses and cowhands So just grant me the Lone Star State don't give me a teller of fate just give me Texas... © 2013 J.
