Farewell, Casey...

Farewell, Casey...

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

The weekend was short

72 hours before the next monday

a child was lost and hurt

her family and closest friends

is what light she had from God

A cold piece of metal

something debated about the government

was the result of ruthless darkness

that consumed her

School was nothing but pain

her smile was only a cover of how she felt

nothing was as it seemed

Out of the blue

the girl was no longer there

her body lay lifeless

in the yard of her house

her death was too difficult to bare

The few friends she had

all the family she had

now mourns of her passing

tears are shed

pain is washed by rain

Her life was too short

evil spirits took her from the rest of us

hate consumes her loved ones

evil still lives in the hearts of so many

Not an apology was said

no respect was given

from those that tormented her

Today the school was silent

than ever before

the sadness overpowers the happiness

that her friends had once taken for granted

May you rest in peace, Casey...

Author's Note

Casey was a student at my highschool. She commited suicide a week after she turned 15. She was a aquaintance to me, but like a sister to all her friends.
It's not the best, but I felt the need to write something.

This are my favorite lines ^-^

In my opinion I can't judge feelings via great and best, as long as its feelings strongly weaved in paper then it's already a masterpiece.

we can't blame people who wants to kill themselves, they just want to escape it all and to find of something that will make them happy. I symphatize with Casey's death and I hope that if possible she will be saved.

I wouldn't dream of reviewing this piece as in the strict sense. Instead I will simply say this, " my daughter experienced this very same loss not more than two years ago. Though not by metal but loss of life just the same. A classmate to her, friend to many, child by loved ones. It's senseless and extremely sad for those left behind. She wrote a poem in class as one of those left behind. It was just as movingly emotional as this piece you wrote." Though in the minds of some..there is just no way out of the agony they feel every morning once their lids raise ...they just cannot see through the haze of judgement they sense inside and from others...life is precious and you gave voice to the magnificent gift we are granted from that first breath we draw. Thank you for sharing :)

A very sad poem. It is sad when someone killed themselves. Leave a million un-answered questions. I like the real life feel of the poem. I pray Casey found a better place to be. Thank you for sharing the poem and the sad story.
