Just One Wish

Just One Wish

A Poem by J. F. Charleston

If I had only one wish
I'd only wish for you...

All the things
I could choose from
wouldn't fill my heart like you do...

Just one wish
is what would let you be mine...

Society hates our love
but the One from up above
surely wants it to last...

All the power
that they have
can't forbid you and I
from sharing each other...

Just that one little wish
could mean the most
to you and me...

They can't understand
what you are to me
the greatest thing that's happened to me
jealousy prevents us from being free...

Just a wish
is all we'll need...

I can finally answer the review you gave me on "Just Things I Miss". This breathes of the forbidden...the wanting...needing...longing...of the beating heart. Just as I wished for that love to be always from that one person...a wish as powerful as this one you have created is very inspiring indeed. That all it takes is one person's love to make a dream a living existing possibility. Gives the rest of us hope as sure as the day follows the night.

I've wanted to tell you...thank you for the RR of each piece you create :) You aren't alone in the wish to have a love that fills you completely and never falters in its depth. One day you'll look up and see that love has a face you didn't expect...but is the best sight you will ever come across in your lifetime. :)

Nice job! I feel like you're improving in every poem. Obviously you already know this, but it's good to have a reader at the very start, not have them debate about whether they should go on or not. For me, I was hooked at the very first stanza because I'm really into romance.

100/100!

A beautiful poem of love. I like the feel of love and the struggle to overcome the negative people. I like the complete poem. A very good ending to a outstanding poem.
