Sonnet on Love

Sonnet on Love

A Poem by John Carver

LOVE YOUR BROTHER LOVE YOUR SAVIOR

For this is love that Jesus Christ loved us
But how do we show him that we love God
By rolling around in the aisles and cuss
Or by engaging devils and demons on our sod
By building a reputation and filling the church
Be it huge or a tiny country church near a town
By leaving our brothers hungry or in a lurch
And short of money we don't know will be around
Feeding the homeless and providing a place
Or giving to our favorite charities with our cards
Or reading the Bible to dyslexics we face
Their problems with them not calling them retards?
And more if they are brothers with us in the Lord
For if we don't love our brothers we don't love the Word?
