A Poem on Legalism

A Poem on Legalism

A Poem by John Carver

FREED FROM HELL TO HELL

John, given to God this day by Jesus the Christ
O Father surround me with the Holy Spirit's form
In a way I feel him being there enticed
To being around me then as has been my norm

We are to love Christ Jesus with all our heart
With promised life through him our Savior and King
May we never be so bold as to think we should part
From him who is our life our everything

For he gives us the right in his everlasting light
To call his God our Father, his Father God
For his glory is over all things and very bright
Give him glory due him even while under the sod

Do not think as his people did that they could do
Whatever they wanted so long as it was the law
Obeying the rules but not in the Spirit of who
Made laws and gave orders without any flaw

As they turned to Jesus through Paul and tried the same
To love Jesus but not each other with compassion's care
Because the Apostle Paul said to revere his name
So their love went through the roof and then nowhere

For power in God is in the love of Christ
But also in the love of the saints once men
And those of the world in Satan's grasp high priced
His slaves to beat and be beaten by him most then

To be pitied as the rule to set them free
Makes them a slave to religious rules of all kinds
And loving the rules their legalisms agree
They are bound again having closed their window blinds

To the light that set them free of darkest hell
And thinking they're purer than saints that therein dwell.

Author's Note

John Carver
It needs a second read. For me the first read just laid there but the second told it all.

A blue jay landed in the top of a Colorado blue spruce and said to a ground squirrel, "Why don't you drop that to the ground? It would be easier for you to eat." "'Why? I can do it here." "A challenge.. more..
