After AllA Poem by JE FalconCleaning out a closet.I have taken on a new hobby in my retirement years, airing my dirty laundry. I opened that closet that I keep that kind of stuff in, and I must say, the light of day has improved the space, greatly. They say that doing such things is good for saddened souls, but I have my doubts. My shoe comfort has not improved.
My dirty laundry has been hanging in that closet for a very long time, along with those skeletons. And after a lengthy examination, I do believe that self-pity has taken root in the form of a fungus.
Then there is that pile of regrets, which seems to be getting taller. You know, the more I ponder the more the pile rises. And I guess that was to be expected. None the less, all those regrets are way past due, and the fines have more than been paid for in time-spent, wondering. So, out they will go into the “Say-la Vie” dumpster, along with those other things I can't do anything about; like the dirty laundry. All the cleaning in the world will never take the stains out of that pile of bad decisions.
As far as those skeletons are concerned, they are not all mine and some are left over from the past. So I will just slide them over into the shadows and let sleeping dogs lie. I'm sure my kids will do the same, while adding more; After all, we're only human.
