...the long View ...in 12 lines

Fisherman's Wharf Cafe

"Look at the intricate stitching on that fish netting hanging outside, Sweetheart,"
Grace says, her hands touching the window as she shields her eyes from the sun's light.
~
"Squinting, Donald finger-taps the glass. "Funny, I've been looking through it, Grace,
toward that tall ship in the harbor."
~
"Curious, isn't it, Sweetie," she muses wistfully, "how we so often see things differently."
~
" ...It would be kinda boring if we didn't, don't you think, Grace?"
~
"I suppose so, Sweetums, but we'd have less disagreements, no spats."
~
"I hope you're aware, Grace, that I've really been trying to take a long view, to be more tolerant."
~
"Yes, you do try, Sweet Pea. And, don't think I don't notice. Live and let live is my motto."
~
Suddenly appearing with a wipe-cloth, a server busily erases their touch prints from the glass.
"Really, folks, were you born in barns?! Don't ya think I've got enough to do?!"
~
"How 'bout you stick that rag where the sun don't shine, Sweet Cheeks!"
