Al Gonkwin's Roundtable

"I'm blocked, Alan. You're a celebrated author.
How do you choose what to write?"
~
"I leave that to my Muse."
~
"Ah, c'mon, that's such a cliché. Who ...what, is your Muse?"
~
"He ...she ...is not so much a Who or a What, as an Intersection."
~
 " ...An intersection?"
~
"Yeah, where my screen, keyboard and fingers meet."
~
"Ah, yes, your legendary roundtable!"
~
" Actually, a little bit above my table, hovering."
" ...Like a sweet hummingbird, eh?"
~
"Like an albatross, ready to peck my eyes out if my fingers and keyboard
don't get something, any damn thing, on the screen PDQ!

Hard to explain a muse. To me it is that albatross opening my skull and pulling out my brain for not being able to write fast enough and thereby forgetting important lines. I loved the poem it in its two way conversation speaks to me.
