An Excerpt from unfinished novel

An Excerpt from unfinished novel

A Story by John Knowles
"

I have this novel that has been in the works for a few years now. I finished a novella of it back in high school. Since then I've been making a longer second version with more satire and less drama.

"
“Christmas is over.” I said, or would have, with a smirk curling around my lips and hands gesturing wildly into the air. I would grab the mike from the podium and scream but I wouldn’t know what to say. We’ve been back from break for two weeks and this lame a*s poster of Santa is still on the wall. I want to rip it down and burn it while dancing a wild tribal dance around the flames. I would throw in our textbooks and scan-tron sheets along with that b***h that keeps kicking the back of my chair. This is what they call English. Everyone in this class is so f*****g loud that I don't even know what the hell Mrs. Puckett is talking about.

Author's Note

John Knowles
The style is very influenced by Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. There's about 120 unedited pages of this that I need to go through in order to make it coherent. I may think about posting the original version (75pps)

I LOVE SPEAK! Its my absolute favorite book! I'm reading it again for the... I lost count. A lot of my work has a little whisper of Melinda in them. Her personality, I loved it.
When I read this, I could see a little hint of Speak. Marvelous!
