Life was over Naye was forced to leave her Friends, her school, her first crush All because her mom chose To accept some wack job
Across the sea Or on the sea, she guessed They would spend the next year On a suped up rig Smack dab in the ocean
Naye was not thrilled She spent the last three weeks Screaming around the house And summoning spirits To cease her mother’s plot
If it just worked Naye could be at home with Liz and Becca, laughing At Miss Wick’s fashion sense And talking about boys
The fates shunned her As Naye sat on the boat Wishing her cellphone worked A teen boy walked passed her And looked over the rail
Naye walked over Peering into the sea “Pretty,” she said, grinning. “Yeah, I guess,” he replied, His bright brown eyes shining
The teen smiled “Your mom force you here too?” “How’d you guess,” Naye replied. “My dad dragged me out here.” “Parents suck.” Naye smiled
“I’m Naye,” she said. “Carlo,” he said, hand out. “Your dad a scientist?” “A cop,” Carlo replied, “Here for a murder case.”
Naye’s bones trembled “There’s a killer out here?” “Seems so,” Carlo replied. “If we stick together, We’d have a fighting chance.”
Naye stumbled back “So what happened,” she asked. Waves crashed into the ship “Some fisherman went nuts; Killed half his crew,” he said.
The ocean howled “We’re here,” Naye’s mom pointed. A vast castle-esq fort With an orange lighthouse Loomed over them; Naye quaked © 2017 DayDreamer1292Author's Note
