Chapter 1: Waves & Ticks- Part 3

Chapter 1: Waves & Ticks- Part 3

A Chapter by DayDreamer1292

2 weeks later

Naye bit her nails

Her feet up on the rails

As her mom hunched forward

Barfing into a bag

“That’s what she gets,” Naye thought.

Life was over

Naye was forced to leave her

Friends, her school, her first crush

All because her mom chose

To accept some wack job

Across the sea

Or on the sea, she guessed

They would spend the next year

On a suped up rig

Smack dab in the ocean

Naye was not thrilled

She spent the last three weeks

Screaming around the house

And summoning spirits

To cease her mother’s plot

If it just worked

Naye could be at home with

Liz and Becca, laughing

At Miss Wick’s fashion sense

And talking about boys

The fates shunned her

As Naye sat on the boat

Wishing her cellphone worked

A teen boy walked passed her

And looked over the rail

Naye walked over

Peering into the sea

“Pretty,” she said, grinning.

“Yeah, I guess,” he replied,

His bright brown eyes shining

The teen smiled

“Your mom force you here too?”

“How’d you guess,” Naye replied.

“My dad dragged me out here.”

“Parents suck.” Naye smiled

“I’m Naye,” she said.

“Carlo,” he said, hand out.

“Your dad a scientist?”

“A cop,” Carlo replied,

“Here for a murder case.”

Naye’s bones trembled

“There’s a killer out here?”

“Seems so,” Carlo replied.

“If we stick together,

We’d have a fighting chance.”

Naye stumbled back

“So what happened,” she asked.

Waves crashed into the ship

“Some fisherman went nuts;

Killed half his crew,” he said.

The ocean howled

“We’re here,” Naye’s mom pointed.

A vast castle-esq fort

With an orange lighthouse

Loomed over them; Naye quaked
