A Painful Life We LeadA Poem by JCzerwinskiA painful life we lead our closest companion suffering born into a world of madness and rage chains of ignorance hold us in our cage our mind cursed with lies of immortality the beautiful lie that is eternity only the young fear death for the old await its rest what is it we seek on our quest is it love to fill our chest where is truth in this place what will bring joy over our face our years fly by as days our lives lived in a haze we ask for a breath of true air before we bid farewell to this life of despair the thoughts we breathe have already been conceived the lies of faith have deceived our thirst for truth and knowledge lies of the ages have push us to the edge chains of ignorance must be broken the false truth of god needs to be forsaken before our flesh is consumed in our minds we must make room push aside the previous lie let the concept of heaven die only then shall we see what truly lies beneath our feet the remnants of countless generations souls from before the idea of nations whispering from the past to leave a legacy that will last religion has shaped today's world of pain in the name of god millions have been slain with blind faith for a god who does not exist the people of faith willing to clinch their fist choose wisely what legacy to give seek out truth and all it shall bring remember one day from the grave we all sing as for me and my house we will no longer cower as a mouse I would rather forever be forsaken than to serve a personification of hatred when I have breathed my last and I too become a member of the past I only hope to have lived my own life even if it is full of strife © 2011 JCzerwinski |
