If the Axis Cracks (I will not let go)

If the Axis Cracks (I will not let go)

A Poem by JCatchen3

Written by: James Catchen & Lydia Lankford

The rain is fallin' as the lightening strikes
Your midnight sun has long been gone
The wind breaks and the waves crash on broken rocks
scarred by memories of shakey knees and racin' hearts.

I will not let go
Not if the axis cracks or if the breathing stops
I will not let go
Though you're looking, look no further

The only person who could've rescued you
is the one who needs to be saved

You've always been something else I can't define
Something that breaks the broken
Something that fixes the mended

If you'd let me,
there are things I could change
If I could bring my self to it,
there are things you could do.

I will not let go
Not if the axis cracks or if the breathing stops
I will not let go
Though you're looking, look no further

The only person who could've rescued you
Is the one who needed to be saved.
