The Imperfect Mechanic

The Imperfect Mechanic

A Poem by JCatchen3

The wheels on the road spin 'round,
Break... break... break...
stuck in the traffic of LA.

My fear is rising now,
soon we'll break again.
Like this traffic,
we've become stop and go.

Soon I'll be home again.
Back to our reality,
back to a world where moving on
is the highway I'm forced to take.

Our journey was littered with accidents,
so many people who just stopped to stare.

I, the imperfect mechanic,
the bad co-pilot...
continued to use gum and paperclips
to get us running again.

Just a bit further now, I'd say.
So close to the mechanic...
But, our car never made it.

I'm just another passenger in your car.
Our memories another number on your speedometer.
You're my taxi man to a dark unknown.
