Broken

Broken

A Poem by J.Carnevale

The clouds roll in again, darkness swallows me whole, except this time with new intentions. It no longer brings with it memories. The memories have little effect on me anymore. The little light left in my bloodshot eyes disappears. The darkness knows my faults, knows I am a broken soul. I shut my eyes, feeling the process begin, seeping into my skin. It drains deep within me, devouring any hope that lingers. I feel it deep in my bones, spreading pain everywhere, scorching my inner core. I cannot hold back the hot tears, and soon my face is drenched with blood, rolling down my face to my neck. My skin tears, and soon blood is dripping down every inch of my body, the life I once knew draining to the floor.
