Splendor

Splendor

A Poem by JC
"

written for the Poem a Quote

"

Lay me down in the tall, sweet grass

The hour is ours to take

I long to feel your lips pressed against mine

and feel the warmth of the embrace

As the grass ripples with the spring breeze

scents and sounds mingle and float above

We are lost in this moment, lost to time

and lost to the world that is around

May we remember a day as perfect as this

when the world is cruel and unkind

May we remember the splendor of the grass

The splendor that is you and I

Dear JC,

This is an exquisite poem, especially the first stanza:

"Lay me down in the tall, sweet grass
The hour is ours to take
I long to feel your lips pressed against mine
and feel the warmth of the embrace"

Very inspiring. I mean really inspiring!

A wonderful poem. Very well done.

Best regards,

Rick

The last line, The splendor that is you and I. Grammatically, the line is correct, but in this instance, I think "me" would work better. Consider, the splendor that is me, the splendor that is you and I

Nice sentiment expressed, you can picture the lovers in embrace taking in nature.

Ahh I love words and "splendor" is one that immediately attracted me to read this. In the moment I read this I was nestled in plush grass, comfortable and relaxed to the rhythm and imagery of this poem.

good lines.

This poem is a smile-inducer in a 1-2 way.

First, the timeless loving moment is captured, tribute to purpose of life, and inspiration to live from the heart.

Second, a classic film title is evoked, as if to add a cherished affective highlight to the mood memories of those parallel worlds of dreams.

Splendor is indeed unmitigated love-desire on a clear bright day of indelible blues and greens.

Lovely!

This reminds me of the Fleetwood Mac song:
--Lay me down in the tall, sweet grass

Very sensual:
--I long to feel your lips pressed against mine
--and feel the warmth of the embrace

Beautiful images:
--As the grass ripples with the spring breeze
--scents and sounds mingle and float above

Time is weird when I am with my guy:
--We are lost in this moment, lost to time
--and lost to the world that is around

My only suggestion, is that grammatically speaking, it should be you and me:
--The splendor that is you and I

Beautiful piece. You really have me in the mood for my date tonight! ;)

Warm and cherishing, the naturalistic beauty that moves with human love and togetherness. It's such a captivating work, very smooth and soft to the heart.
