My New Best Friend

My New Best Friend

A Poem by JC
"

The cold that just won't go away

"

I have a new best friend

deciding to remain through the thick and thin

been hanging around since turkey day

although he's worn out his welcome, I'd say

Some really great fun we have had

coughing and sneezing's not all that bad

as long as lung doesn't come flying out

but if it does then there is no doubt

That my new best friend is here to stay

but I would gladly wish him adieu, without delay

a full nights sleep is all I desire

but my head feels like its on fire

So until the earth is warm and flush

and redness on my face is just blush

my new best friend should have a name

I think I'll call him - Snuffy

Ha ha! Sounds like one of the relatives to a very persistent pimple! Only pimples like to couch-potato on your face for all to see how much they love you! Imaginative way to write about one of our fair and foul weather enemies. Hmm...can you tackle a headache? That has got to be big ole Aunt Beulah and her luggage...haha...oh well! This was cute and so funny! Take care!

I wish I could say something positive about something that makes me feel like crap. Well written.

Smiling upon this one...liking the way you ended this.

Snuffy you call him, I'm sure he will be back
for a visit
for the love of your nose, he can not
do without
knowing he will be love by the Kleenex...lol

A cute way of expressing disdain for a persistent cold.

It took a couple of reads and some thought for it all to fall into place. And I must say the "lung flying out" line surprised me. Unexpected from a female writer. Blunt.

Nice finish. A good one, proving breadth and whimsey within one's abilities.

A fun little piece about our winter, spring and summer friend. Funny how he seems to miss autumn!

The thoughts here a collection of wishes and hopes , from acceptance through, wish you would go and back to acceptance of the inevitable.

Reading it aloud I stumbled a bit, - but that could also be because I may not have found your beat, so to check it yourself, so maybe read it aloud yourself to see if it flows the way you meant it to.

Great thoughts, writing about a cold -- and I like the name - Snuffy - just hope he doesn't decide to visit me.

Jen-JG :-)
