As The Story UnravelsA Poem by Julio Cesar Ruizthis is a kind of response to My Great History. I wrote it for my creative writing class a few weeks ago. What is it I fight for? Why do I defy my fate? Is it to protect what I couldn’t before? To prove that I’m still great…
I do not know for I regret, That much has changed this year. And my memories I seem to forget. Yet I do not know why I fight what I fear
Fear would keep me up at night, With me unable to sleep. But I gathered up my might, When I stared into those eyes so deep.
A friend would come to my aid. Helping me when I couldn’t stand. And despite what my fear forbade, You helped me when you took my hand.
You stand by my side watching my back, Still holding my hand to never let go, As we prepare for an unexpected attack, On this quest we swore to forgo.
We don’t know what to expect, On this road we chose to travel, But no matter what road we intersect, We will wait and see as the story unravels. © 2010 Julio Cesar RuizAuthor's Note
