Ice Storm

Ice Storm

A Poem by J. C. Koch

After the ice storm

The world is slick

Everything has teeth

Icy armor thick

The morning sun

Shines off the trees

Nights so cold

Even the air will freeze

This is the soul

Of the winters we know

We become frozen

In a storm of ice and snow

After the ice storm

The world is cold

Snow bright white

And the sun burns gold

Beneath it all

The world is asleep

The tender seeds of life

The ice will keep

Until the thaw

Until the spring

To the trees

The ice will cling

The rhyming is great in this! you perfectly described winter in a sense when it is beautiful and yet and hated, and left me in the middle for my opinion.
My favorite lines:
Everything has teeth
Icy armor thick

and
Snow bright white
And the sun burns gold

I like this a lot. It has nice descriptivness, and the interpretation of winter changing to spring is really good.
