Not

Not

A Poem by J. C. Koch
"

Its a bleeding heart piece, but I'd still love opinions and constructive criticism.

"

To love the poem, not the poet

To love the words but not the writer

To love the story, not the narrator

To love the struggle but not the fighter

The girl, she said “I read what you wrote,”

The girl, she said “I love your words.”

But when I reached out towards her

It all scattered in the wind like flocks of birds.

She loved my words, but was in love with another

And so I’m left, fractured and broken apart

Spending all my time without any rest

Picking up the scattered pieces of my heart

She loved the poem, not the poet

She loved the words but not the writer

She loved the story, not the narrator

She loved the struggle but not the fighter

I enjoyed reading this. It really hits the spot. Its like i could feel the way he did by the way you described it. It might be one of my favorites of yours(:

I like this a lot. I like how you used the repetition at the beginning and end, and how the middle went together. Overall, it flowed nicely and the reader really gets the message clearly and gets into your mind. Nicely done.
