Where?

Where?

A Poem by J. C. Koch

"Lone little sparrow, where do you fly?
When my leaves are all gone,
You fly away, from both the cold,
And me, you leave me alone.
But I do not mind at all, for I,
I have liveda hundred years, or so,
And I know that you'll be back again.
I am strong, anchient, and stoic,
And you, you are young and flighty.
But still I ponder, where do you fly?
What do you see there, wherever you go?
Who do you meet? Please tell.
For though I am strong, I am rooted,
Stuck in the ground here and only here.
And, though you are young and fragile,
You are free to fly anywhere you please.
So diffrent, yet still together near always,
We're an odd pair, you and I,"
Said the tree to the sparrow.

I write when I can, not because I want to, because I need to. I was introduced to poetry in 3rd grade, and I've been in love with it ever since. My dream is to get published, I'm working on that as yo.. more..
