Head Over Heels

Head Over Heels

A Poem by J. C. Koch

I was head over heels
for the girl I thought would be my life
but now she has but contempt,
For all I've caused her is strife.

I'm writing this to say,
What I've said a hundred times.
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry,
That is the mantra that my heart chimes.

Though I'd never go back
and undo what I've said,
Both sides were damaged,
She doesn't know the tears I've shed.

Now, all that I could ever want
is for her to have a good life,
I'm sorry, I've moved on,
I'll try never to cause her more strife.

I write when I can, not because I want to, because I need to. I was introduced to poetry in 3rd grade, and I've been in love with it ever since. My dream is to get published, I'm working on that as yo.. more..
