Russian Roulette

Russian Roulette

A Poem by J. C. Koch

Life sent her
nothing but pain.
The world showed her
nothing but rain.

"This is no life is no life,"
Thats what she thought
"It really wasn't worth it,
those battles I've fought."

But still in her mind,
like a shodowy wraith,
Something she'd forgotten.
I could have been faith.

So she decided to test,
see if she was meant to die.
Her father's colt and one bullet,
Was it her time to say goodbye?

The bullet loaded, the barrel spun,
Now, it was her time to see.
"One pull of the trigger,
and I'll find if this world was meant for me."

She squeezed the trigger,
a simple little pull,
and she leaned the simple fact,
Her life was meant to be full.

I write when I can, not because I want to, because I need to. I was introduced to poetry in 3rd grade, and I've been in love with it ever since. My dream is to get published, I'm working on that as yo.. more..
