She Really Is

She Really Is

A Poem by J. C. Koch
"

Another poem about her

"

She saw herself through a foggy mirror

Blemished by smudges and cracks

She couldn’t see herself

For the fair angel

She really is.

So she shut herself away in a tower

Attempting to shut-out the world

So no one has to see her

The way she does

Dark and ugly.

But thats not how the rest of us see her

We see that girl without the fog

Without the murk and blur

For the fair angel

She really is.
