Drinking

Drinking

A Story by J. C. Baker

It's hard to drink. There it is... right in front of you... a drink.

You saw the other guy drink....

You see the drink right in front of you.

What happened when he drank? Was it a good thing? Does he think it's a good thing? Is he doing OK?

You have the same drink in front of you that he had. You saw him drink. You saw what it did for him. You have seen others drink.

There it is... a drink.

There's a catch to the drink - you have to believe in it. Then you have to drink it. Looking at it doesn't work. Tasting it doesn't work. Smelling it doesn't work. You have to drink it. You have to believe in it.

But it's hard to drink....

Yeah this is a good reality. Its hard to drink but once you ignore what it is and take it in.. it's a lot easier. I like the 'catch' to the drink, how you speak about "believing" in it. Clever write. A different light on alcohol you've shed. II never really thought of alcohol like this ..before I started drinking it was a vile mystical substance whose effects on people I loved.. I didn't love. As I am older the story of the drink has changed but the same lullabye of it as a kid still plays in the background. Thanks for this

A very clever idea; it is hard to drink, but sometimes it's just what we have to do. A very interesting read, enjoyed it!
