Sun and Moon

Sun and Moon

A Story by J.

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful sky. By day the Sun would shine so bright, that the Moon welcomed it's warmth. But then, there were long periods of time, when the Sun would turn black, never to be seen for months. The Moon tried to shine on, growing cold with each moment that passed, while trying to use the memory of the Sun's warmth to keep warm, in spite of the tears from morning dews mists. At least she had some warmth, from the sparkles around her, that fell as the comets passed by, or a shooting star would tease a wish like a blink of an eye!

Then the Sun would miraculously appear from behind a dark cloud, as if nothing had happened at all! Disregarding that aspect at the time, the Moon once again welcomed the blanket of the Sun's rays. An unconditional display of emotion the Moon was so used to throughout her life. To freely give in spite of whatever the situation would be. But for some reason, unbeknownst to the Moon, the Sun took advantage of this emotion. Finding some kind of way to twist it around like a pliable clay not meant to bend the way the Sun wanted. The Moon felt the pain little by torturous little. Still, she stood to accept the possibility of change for the better. Holding on to a Hope she did not know would diminish by the Sun's rays of fire. And once again, the Sun left for a time again.

This time, the Moon grew weary. Her heart cried many tears once again, and felt many pains. Remembering the first time the Sun said those three words, never in person, but through the technology of man. So there were no sweet words to recall from a breath of life. There were no soft words spoken, only words typed into the physical plain mankind invented for themselves to communicate. And out of some desperation to keep the Moon right where the Sun could reach her at his own whim.

It was during these times of absents, the Moon was unaware (until late of course) of the Sun's trists and secret unifications with another he had long since said he had severed ties with. Keeping another at his fingertips to use and abuse as he will, while damn near doing the same from afar to the one he claimed to hold dear and close. A fading light casting shadows more and more each wake. A lesson the Moon etched in her heart and soul noteably. Rains fell, causing many floods and storms to wreack havoc among the lands her feet rested and walked upon. Displaying the relentless emotions the Sun continuously caused, which it's effect from the cause was polluted by man kinds mistakes they could never rectify. This saddened the Moon as well. And her heart and soul grew heavier with each passing moment in time.

She set her sights on the planet man dwelled within. Directing her Hope toward them instead, to share what love she had. For she knew someone would accept that which she selflessly had to give, and longed to share! For the Sun became something she could not recognize, much less depend on anymore. In her defense, she had used what emotion she had left to muster to ward off the Sun's beating rays, that scorched the very core of her! Lashing at her soft light. Instilling shock and awe coupled with a guard to be set to protect amidst the fear the Sun had invoked. What had become of the Sun?

There was no alignment between the two. What appeared to be, was only a near miss. And the subtle bump along their passing caused waves to lose their tides, and the Earth to shatter in waves of anger as a defense to protect what was left of Love. This ripple effect could not be fixed. For the Moon found herself on high alert at every passing of the Sun. Her emotions never waned, and her eyes never slept. She remembered how she would kiss the Sun subtly to let him shine the next day. But his rays grew too hot for his own purpose, creating a destruction in his path of all that was and could be more than good. Was all Hope gone?!

The Moon still carried Hope for the best, as she was once again reunited with her 3 little stars. From the outside looking in, they knew, and she beseeched them that they'd give the Sun the benefit of the doubt. They only complied for her, and their love for her. Their only focus was for The Moon's happiness. But they could no longer be mute in the wake of her silent tears. There was just too many Earthquakes, floods and other natural disasters that were effecting the balance of her rotation. Effecting all the balance of this solar system's existence. Venus seen what the Sun was doing to the Moon, and told her sister on many ocassions. When Moon told Venus what Sun had been saying and doing from her end, Venus had to set her sister Moon straight, and reveal to her the real truths of what seemed to be the Sun's agenda to destroy the natural shape of the Moon. Moon's brother, Mars was on the ready. To collide if he will, making an example of the Sun's out of control path. Self-destruction and destruction to all the others around him. Mars and Jupiter were fed up. Their sister Moon had enough holes of her own to deal with, she did not need the Sun trying to fix what was not his to fix.

And the Sun's ways were becoming more and more clear. As he mingled heartlessly, with what seemed guiltless and with no remorse as to the pains he inflicted on "his Moon". His mingling with others outside the solar system, even while Moon was away with Venus, then right under the nose of Moon was just the tip of many icebergs on Earth. An epic Apocalypse formed. Out of the darkness came a HUGE light that illuminated all truth for all to see! Sadly, in his own darkness, the Sun refused to admit what he had done. Refused to admit his faults, that may have saved his Kronos a*s when he had the chance! And the nights grew longer, as he become lost within it. The Sun's days were growing shorter. And the Pommegrante Seed was not eaten this time around! Moon had left it on the side of her plate when she had noticed it secretly stashed.

Very nice allegory. It might be interesting to personify them more by using mythological names such as Apollo and Selene. But I like it. It reminds me of a story I wrote many years ago called The House, with an epic battle between night and day. I'll open it back up publicly in case you want to read it
