Sphynx

Sphynx

A Poem by J.
"

Wrote this based on a dream of many I have had.

"
Standing on gold sands of Ancient Giza
Adorning, white chiffon and golden sash
Bare feet, royal head dress
Accompanied by a young boy
Wearing only a Shendyt
Never leaving my side
Not one word from him uttered

Pivoting to face behind
With Royal posture
Facing a stone walkway
Covered by a trellis
Square-like spirals
it's decor above
Sparse, yet breathtaking
Surrounded by folliage
Just on it's outer side
This walkway lead to

Before us stood a great one
Much authority to be respected
Yet peaceful was his countenance
With a voice of thunder
Asking me what I cannot say
Then turning toward the golden skies above
Behind him, a powerful force
Their message he did receive

Returning his gaze toward me
With a golden plate in right hand
Offering me a taste of Ivory
With a small bit of ebony
Sweet and succulent
This food of the Gods gifted
Better than honey

A slight bow
Before returning back
My attendant followed suit
This pathway in the sands
With no civilization in sight
Only clear, golden heavens
Sand, and scattered fern

Stopping upon notice
Carefully nested dead center
Among the many square-like spirals
A white, marble-like egg
Reaching up, I unlatched it
Great care taken
That this relic not fall to damage

Weighty and solid
Like one would expect
Gazing from under my lashes
To the right, an empty area
Among the green
Without a second thought
I tossed it to land
Like a seed sown
Yet much quicker than usual
A brief, small quake, and emerging light
Where it landed, to open
The Earth pushed forth life
An astounding wonder
As big as Aeons extend
A tree symbolic of heritage
