If Ever

If Ever

If Ever there was a time, it is now
When you just cannot explain the "how"
Where you find the walls at every turn
And your heart finds it cannot bear the yearn
A time when all seems lost
And almost everyone aims to destroy at any cost
When at wits end
The law you feel you must bend
As our children repress all they once felt
While you do not realize the cards you've been dealt
If ever there was compassion, has that moment passed?
To the side, was your love cast?
Then we feel it coming down
Encasing us all around
In position at the ready they wait
Those of deception they hate
With a sound heard far and wide
Will there be chaos in which you hide?
From a beacon calling to all who will hear
Chin up my dear, dry your tear
As the New Dawn draws closer, day-by-day
So does the night, to devour it away
Bashing the teeth out from those who have lied
Awakening all of those who have died
