Angry Angel

Angry Angel

A Poem by J A Lauder
"

This is for my best friend.

"

You’re a strange one, my friend.
All the while you scoff and taunt,
And don’t believe a word I say.
But I know you better than you think, my friend,
And you’ll fail to drive me away.

You’re a cautious one, my friend.
You hide behind your walls,
And you never open up.
But I can read you like a book my friend,
And I never will give up.

You’re a tortured one, my friend.
You hurt more than you admit,
And aren’t the b***h that you make out.
You’re the sweetest of them all, my friend,
However much you shout.

You know that I am right, my friend.
And I know it drives you insane,
You can’t see how remarkable you are.
Open your eyes and face yourself, my friend,
Because I’ll never stray too far.

The rhythm's a bit strange I know, and the punctuation could be better, but I guess it's a work in progress?

A good start. The repetition of "My friend" doesn't work for me; the rhythm is a bit off, but that could just be the style for the poem. I'd like to see this a few drafts down the road.
