Inner Demons

Inner Demons

A Poem by J A Lauder
"

We all have them. This is my interpretation.

"

I can see you,
Standing there
Laughing.
Twisting dreams
And manipulating thoughts.

I can see you
Waiting in the dark.
Draining strength,
Claiming freedom
That isn’t yours.

I can see you,
Crackling with malice
As you see off faith.
Taking away the rights
Of the people you haunt.

I can see you,
Grinning wickedly,
Sneering.
Dictator of the mind,
Feeding on fear.

I can see you,
And you can see me,
And you know as well as I,
That you won’t win,
I’m the one thing you can’t scare away.

I love this poem! You ended the poem very well. Shows not to give into those inner demons. Great work! :)
