Do You

Do You

A Poem by J A Lauder
"

I thought I'd try entering Bella Rose's "I Miss You" contest.

"

How long has it been now?

Long enough,

Far too long.

You’re not even dead,

I know I’ll see you again,

Stupidly soon,

But I barely function without you.

I always wonder what you’re doing,

I get down when I miss talking to you

For one single day,

It actually hurts when I’m not near you.

I’ve told you how much I want you back,

And you’ve always said ‘same’,

But it’s not the same,

Not at all.

You’re the best friend I’ve ever had,

But I get so jealous so fast,

Of the people who get the side of you I don’t,

You don’t understand

That when people tease us and say

“You should get together,”

Or “Go on, kiss her!”

That I want to.

I want to more than anything.

It’s selfish of me,

I’m genuinely happy when you are,

And it breaks my heart when you’re crying,

But it breaks my heart more

That you don’t feel like I do,

Do you?

wow, this is really good. it explains a relationship i've been in recently. it's like you read my mind cuz it's kinda like what i've been trying to write for a while, but i never could write it how i'd wanted it. But this has accomplished what i never did! This is amazing! Great job, and keep up the amazing work!! =)

A sentiment I can definitely understand. I like this quite a bit; very open, conversational style and an underlying longing that makes this poem so accessible. Very nicely done!
