Winter

Winter

A Poem by Jelly Five Jackson

From dawn to night, I hear the leaves falling

In the mist I can smell the frozen air
Trees cold-naked shivering under the snow
The last leaf falls onto the ice below
No child laughed or played
A child walking, frozen and stiff
Carrying only a loaf of bread for his sick mother
A blue car driving past,
Driving by
Looking up there's nothing but the same gray sky
Winter is here and there's no way to stop
The boy still walking, frozen-about to cry
At the last house you would hear a cry
Snow falling slowly soft white kisses
Winter, cold-dead and white.
