Scream and Hide

Scream and Hide

A Poem by James Probert
"

Written after a night of deep and dark thoughts. I know I'm not the only person who feels this way.

"
Every day we fight the fight
To make it through another night
And keep our sorrows to ourselves
So no one knows we're trapped in hell

We fake a smile, laugh out loud
Pretend that we are in the crowd
But really we are all alone
With no one here to give us hope

I'm dying here but no one knows
And I can't let the feelings show
'Cause if you knew of what's inside
You'd run from me, you'd scream and hide

There's solace in the saddest songs
But that can only last so long
Before the dark comes crawling back
And peace we knew just fades to black

We cry for help, but not out loud
For you deserve the safe and sound
And if you knew of what's inside
You'd run from me, you'd scream and hide

Most of us have some demons, whether they be seriously bad or mild irritations. They often seem to torment us in the night, and paint the picture blacker than it really is. In the cold light of day we can usually brush these things off and tell ourselves things are not really that bad. I'm sure many people will be able to relate to this poem!

This is what I like about writing, being able to get it out, the good or the bad. I know that it does help me. Nicely written!

I just love how the first line resonates me " everyday we fight the fight" and it is definitely a perplexity whether you win or you lose the fight. When one knows what's inside your mind, most people will just runaway.

P.S our loud thoughts are engraved by night and it's when we are the purest, sanest and most vulnerable.
