What If?

What If?

A Poem by James Probert
"

Just wanted to have a little fun mixed in the usual sadness

"
What if I met her at a lake
And watched her boat float away
What if I met her in a book store
But she read the cover the wrong way
What if I met her in a coffee shop
But she didn't like my flavor
What if I met her at a restaurant
But she already had her dinner

What if she saw me at the store
But she left me on the shelf
What if I met her in a school
But she was teaching someone else
What if she saw me driving by
But preferred a different car
What if she saw me playing golf
And I couldn't shoot for par

What if I saw her at the zoo
But my bark was not her bite
What if I was going to the left
But she only goes right
What if I'm standing in the sun
But she prefers the dark
What if she really likes to write
But my pen could leave no marks

What if she loves to play piano
But I've broken all the keys
What if I took her to the woods
But she really hates the trees
What if she wants a giant house
But I can't afford a box
What if I'm doomed to be a hound
But she always wants the fox

A fun poem to read. We need more light hearted writes in difficult times. What I would say to you is, opposites attract. So hang on in there. A good read James Probert. First of yours.
