Uphill BattleA Poem by James ProbertA sad and dark poem, as most of mine usually are.
I'm not sure how much more
I can take Of all the battles I've lost This one takes all the cake I made the right choices But I'm still going down I'm treading the water And soon I will drown At first I thought that I wouldn't Give in All the cards were on my side I thought I could win But in this uphill battle I can't reach the ground There's a wall on my future And I can't get around I am tired I lost my will to fight Everything's a blur around me I'm fading into the night I have my anchors But their weight no longer holds me Maybe if I let go I'll find some way to be free Every day My body leaves without me It goes off into the world While I hide inside my day dreams Someday things may get better But I won't hold my breath Because if I hope for tomorrow Then today will bring death. © 2019 James ProbertReviews
