Scorched fragmentsA Poem by Rose MasenI'll miss you, my love. Forever.
Oh, my heart once beat with a fire never known.
A love so strong, it danced with a fierocious step. Every beat a new rhythm striking the drum of my soul. Words of love and life every morning, a reassurance so vivid it created it’s own palette. Rocky roads, misunderstandings, unconditional love, guidance. Tendrils of scorching fire winding around the live wires of 2 souls. We always chose the brightness of fire then the cooling. Time held no place in a world created for just us, by us. Altered. Rocky roads, misunderstandings, miscommunication, misguidance. Love still a foundation, yet life had other plans. It pried and stabbed- several attempts at obliteration. It leaves no choice but one- turn away. My eyes shed so many tears, I feel dehydrated. More torn now, then being beaten, battered many years ago. Hours away, thousands of miles between; opposite ends of the world. Never able to see the sun rise or moon shine at the same time. Your touch lingers across my skin, your face a remarkable memory. A soul seeking pity for it troubles, a heart still beating; Only aware because you’ve awaken again. I will never be the same. Never Again. If a heart beats out of obligation to life, a soul existing in fragments A mind will shut down to feel nothing but numbness. A one, true, enraging fire of a love, now cooled; marking our scorched path in soot covered memories, wondering how to go on.
