The Dawn Eaters

The Dawn Eaters

A Poem by Argonaut1
"

Hungry daylight.

"

The Dawn Eaters

Shorelines sweetened in salt,

Leaves a continent to dry.

Fails to nurture,

It can only eat the red from the sky.

Death would be fickle

In a land so strange.

Starving; it devours its enemies

Light strays far out of range.

Opaqueness wilts temples here.

Forests losing the war of benevolence.

Forsaking its gods,

It basks in lieu of its own ignorance.

It has no eyes anymore.

This land that buries its brow in its stupid hands.

Its lost and unfeeling hands.

It begs for mercy, for dawn, from its haughty demands.
